Leading retail logistics specialist Clipper Logistics Group has signed up to a five-year programme with specialist logistics and driver training provider TIR Training Services Ltd.
TIR will provide Clipper’s several hundred drivers with Driver CPC periodic training, as required by the European directive that will make such training compulsory for all drivers by 2014.
Clipper has 28 depots across the UK and Europe and a client list that includes many of the biggest names in retail, fashion and prestige products.
Tony Mannix, Managing Director of Clipper, said: “Quality training and development for our team is a priority at Clipper. We are confident that working with TIR will enable us to build on our driver standards and improve efficiencies across our fleet.”
Tim Watson, Sales and Marketing Manager of TIR, said: “Clipper is leading the way in rolling out the Driver CPC training programme at the earliest opportunity, because it recognises that high standards are essential to their business".
“To be selected as Clipper’s training partner for Driver CPC is excellent news for TIR, as it shows we can be relied upon to deliver the same high quality Clipper is accustomed to providing to its own clients.”
Clipper signed up to TIR’s new CPC+ programme, which provides member benefits and a range of courses that contribute to Driver CPC, such as Safe And Fuel Efficient Driving, Driver’s Welfare and Awareness Of Transport Emergency Procedures.
Tim said: “Rather than just offer a standard training package, we consulted with our existing clients to find out what would give them the best return on their training investment in Driver CPC. The result of our research is CPC+".
“The programme has been snapped up by logistic organisations of all sizes, as it is the most cost-effective and efficient way for companies to undertake Driver CPC. We provide CPC+ members with an Account Manager who learns about the client’s business, makes sure the training is right for them and then manages the full training programme.
“Members have access to the full range of courses as part of the monthly membership fee, which can be paid in fixed sums for the programme’s duration – perfect for operations with a lot of drivers.”
“There are also member discounts and an online membership zone on our website, which includes tracking to let members keep up to date with the progress of their driver’s training. We can train at our own site or at the client’s site and we operate UK-wide. We work with everyone from local authorities to one-man haulage businesses – everyone gets exactly the same package and level of service.”
