Fork Lift Truck (Counterbalance)

We offer Fork Lift Training courses on a variety of equipment including Counterbalance, Reach, Sideloader (2 & 4 way steer), Downloadable and Telescopic.

Novice Operator - 4 days
Experienced  - 2 days
Refresher  - 1 day
Ratio: 1 machine: 3 students to 1 Instructor

Aims:

To provide theoretical and practical knowledge in accordance with HSE Approved Code of Practice (ACOP 117) to safely operate a fork lift truck.

Training:

The fork lift truck training course will comprise of theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:

  • Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998.
  • Operators safety code
  • Battery maintenance & charging procedures
  • Pre Operational checks
  • Factors affecting stability
  • Motive controls
  • Hydraulic controls
  • Manoeuvring in open & confined areas
  • Stacking at different levels
  • De stacking with laden & unladen pallets
  • Lorry loading & unloading

Objectives:

On completion of the course the trainee will be able to:

  • Demonstrate safe driving skills and operation.
  • Understand the capabilities and limitations of the Lift Truck.
  • Stack and de-stack a variety of loads under various conditions.
  • Follow the Operator Safety Code for fork lift truck operations.
  • Understand the importance of daily and weekly Inspection and Maintenance checks.
